A scenic ride to a husky camp south of Tromsø
Your day starts in Tromsø where you need to check in at our Hospitality Desk inside Radisson Blu Hotel by 8.45am. A friendly guide will then take you to the bus for the 90-minute drive to the husky camp in the Tamokdalen valley south of Tromsø. Lean back in the comfortable seats and enjoy the scenic ride! You will soon meet our adorable Alaskan huskies who are eagerly waiting to take you out on a fantastic dog sledding trip! You will even get to cuddle them!
Alaskan huskies are strong, hardy and love running. Our team is made up of passionate and knowledgeable dog-sledding professionals who take good care of the dogs and ensure they stay healthy and happy.
A husky tour in a gorgeous Arctic scenery
Upon arrival at the husky camp, you will receive warm winter suits, shoes and mittens followed by a short briefing on how to handle the sled and dogs. Then off you go for 60 to 90 minutes of dog sledding in a small group led by an experienced guide. Each sled will be shared by two guests, one as "musher" (driver) and the other as passenger. You can change places halfway, so both get to experience the thrill of mushing and the comfort of the sled. Driving a dog team is quite simple as the dogs are well trained and know the route, but you may need to help them up the slopes. This dog sledding tour takes you around a beautiful valley: enjoy the Arctic winter scenery and admire the mighty mountains!
When you return to the camp, you can warm up by the fire and enjoy delicious hot soup. Hot drinks are also available.
The tour is 7.5 hours in total, with 60 to 90 minutes of active sledding. You will be back in Tromsø around 4.30pm.
